Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, along with 16 members of the House, have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Speaker announced the lawmakers’ decision during plenary on Friday, attributing their defection to what he described as a “clear division” within the PDP. Amaewhule emphasized that the move reflects their commitment to political stability and effective representation for the people of Rivers State.
