Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has formally joined the Accord Party, weeks after resigning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Adeleke made the announcement on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord Party.

The governor revealed that he had secretly joined the party over a month ago as part of preparations for his 2026 re-election bid.

“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on November 6, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026 after weeks of consultation with stakeholders and opinion leaders,” Adeleke said.

He explained that the decision was driven by a desire to consolidate ongoing development efforts in the state and continue delivering “good governance and democratic dividends,” which he said had earned his administration wide commendation.

According to him, the Accord Party’s welfarist ideology aligns strongly with his administration’s emphasis on citizens’ and workers’ welfare.

Welcoming Accord Party leaders to the Government House, Adeleke said, “You are now part of us, as I am also now part of you. We are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large.”

He called for a united and inclusive front ahead of the 2026 governorship election, stressing that the Accord Party was now positioned to “take over Osun governance and sustain the delivery of good governance.”

Adeleke highlighted his administration’s focus on welfare, infrastructure, and social services, insisting that “Osun has never had it so good in governance and service delivery.”

He also unveiled the Accord Party as his new political platform across all senatorial districts of the state, urging residents from Osun West, East, and Central to rally behind the party for the 2026 election.

“Osun voted for good governance in 2022, and they will support continuity in 2026. The mass of our people are for continuity, and Accord is our party for victory next year,” he said.

In his concluding remarks, the governor added: “In accordance with the will of our stakeholders and the wishes of Osun people, I hereby declare for the Accord Party.”
