The Ogun State Police Command has announced plans to conduct a shooting range exercise for its officers on Tuesday at the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala, Abeokuta.
The command, in a statement issued on Monday by its Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the exercise forms part of its ongoing training programme aimed at enhancing operational readiness and improving officers’ marksmanship skills.
Residents, commuters and other members of the public within and around the exercise area have been advised to remain calm, exercise caution, and avoid the vicinity for the duration of the drill.
According to the statement, adequate safety measures have been put in place to ensure the protection of lives and property, noting that the sound of gunfire expected during the exercise should not cause panic.
“The Ogun State Police Command assures members of the public that strict safety protocols will be observed throughout the exercise,” Babaseyi said, while appealing for the cooperation and understanding of residents.
He added that adherence to safety advisories would help ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the training exercise.
Members of the public were also encouraged to report any suspicious activities or security-related concerns to the nearest police station, as the command emphasised that the exercise is strictly a routine training activity.
