In fulfilment of his pledge and as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots administration, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has presented Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to chairmen of the 20 Local Government Areas in the state.

The presentation, which took place in Abeokuta on Thursday, coincided with the Christmas festivities.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Ganiyu Hamzat, the governor commended the council chairmen for their contributions to the delivery of democratic dividends at the grassroots level.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the local governments, stressing that improved synergy remains critical to enhancing the welfare and quality of life of residents across the state.

Responding on behalf of the chairmen, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ogun State chapter, Dr. Mrs. Afolasade Adeyemo, described the presentation as timely and commendable, expressing appreciation to the governor for fulfilling his promise.

Adeyemo, who also serves as Chairman of Odeda Local Government, lauded Governor Abiodun’s achievements in key sectors such as education, housing, healthcare and road infrastructure.

She noted that the administration’s ISEYA mantra has positioned Ogun State on a path of sustainable development, adding that the local government chairmen would continue to partner with the state government to make Ogun a model of effective governance.

She further stated that the vehicles would significantly enhance the capacity of council chairmen to access rural communities and respond more effectively to the needs and aspirations of the people at the grassroots.
