…Describe Gesture as Boost for Grassroots Governance, Reaffirm Commitment to Collaborative Development

The Chairmen of the 20 Local Government Areas in Ogun State have commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for the provision of brand-new Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to each of them, describing the gesture as a significant boost to effective grassroots governance.

The commendation was contained in a letter of appreciation signed by the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ogun State chapter, Hon. (Dr.) Folasade Adeyemo, who is also the Chairman of Odeda Local Government Area.

In the letter dated December 25, 2025, the council chairmen described the intervention as “thoughtful and timely,” noting that it underscores the governor’s unwavering commitment to strengthening local government administration across the state.

According to the chairmen, the provision of the official vehicles will enhance mobility, improve administrative supervision, and facilitate efficient service delivery, particularly in hard-to-reach and rural communities.

“The fulfillment of this pledge once again reaffirms the confidence and importance your administration places on local governments as a vital pillar of sustainable development,” the letter read.

The chairmen also acknowledged the wide-ranging infrastructural development initiatives being executed under Governor Abiodun’s administration, stating that the gesture further demonstrates the state government’s resolve to drive sustained and impactful development at the grassroots level.

They stressed the need for continuous collaboration between the state and local governments, particularly in the maintenance and preservation of public infrastructure for long-term public benefit.

The letter further applauded the governor’s “consistent fatherly guidance, steadfast support, and inclusive leadership style,” attributing his hands-on approach and open-door policy as key drivers of effective governance in the state.

Hon. Adeyemo, writing on behalf of her colleagues, credited the administration’s Building Our Future Together agenda and ISEYA mantra for providing a solid foundation for progress in critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare and housing.

“The strong partnership your administration has fostered with Local Governments has enhanced service delivery and renewed hope and confidence among our constituents,” she stated.

The local government chairmen reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty, commitment, and readiness to continue working closely with the state government to advance public welfare and ensure that Ogun State remains a model of good governance and sustainable development.

They concluded by expressing profound appreciation for the governor’s “benevolence, inspirational leadership, and steadfast commitment to developing Ogun State from the grassroots upward.”
