The Fusengbuwa Ruling House has announced Monday, January 12, 2026, as the official date for the nomination of a candidate to fill the vacant Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland stool.
The nomination exercise is scheduled to hold at Bisrod Hall, GRA, Ijebu-Ode, by 12:00 noon.

The announcement follows a directive from the Ijebu-Ode Local Government, which issued a 14-day ultimatum to the ruling house to conclude its nomination process in line with traditional and administrative requirements.

According to the established rotational arrangement among the four recognised ruling houses in Ijebuland, Anikinaiya, Fusengbuwa, Fidipote and Gbelegbuwa, the Fusengbuwa Ruling House is next in line to produce the Awujale.

Members of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, relevant stakeholders and the general public have been advised to take note of the date and venue of the nomination exercise.

The Awujale of Ijebuland is one of the most revered traditional stools in Yorubaland, and the forthcoming nomination is expected to mark a significant step toward the selection of a new monarch for the ancient kingdom.
