The Lagos State Government has ordered a postmortem examination following the death of nine-month-old identical twins, Testimony and Timothy Alozie, who reportedly died about 24 hours after receiving routine immunisation at a primary healthcare centre in the state.

The case drew widespread attention after the twins’ father, Samuel Alozie, popularly known on TikTok as Promise Samuel, shared viral videos showing the bodies of his children in separate body bags, alleging that they died shortly after being vaccinated.

In a follow-up video posted on Thursday, Alozie said he took the twins for routine immunisation on the morning of December 24, 2025, noting that they became unusually weak shortly after receiving the injections.

“They could not eat, they could not play, they could not even disturb as they used to. They were just weak,” he said.

According to him, a nurse at the health centre advised that the children be given paracetamol if their temperature rose. He said he and his wife administered the medication and also bathed the children in cold water, but their condition failed to improve.

“The immunisation was done on the morning of December 24, and by the morning of December 25, they were dead. After the injection, they were very weak. They couldn’t talk, they couldn’t eat, they couldn’t play as usual,” he said, adding that both children died at the same time.

The distraught father insisted that the twins were healthy prior to the immunisation and that he had ensured they received all routine vaccines from birth.

“I am confused. How can I lose two children, identical twins that I suffered so much for? They were just nine months old and not sick. I only took them for immunisation to do the right thing,” he said.

Alozie also raised concerns about the personnel who administered the injections, claiming the nurse was not the regular official who usually attended to his children. He rejected explanations from the health centre suggesting the deaths might have resulted from food-related bacterial infection.

“They are talking about food bacteria. How can food I have been giving them from one month to nine months suddenly kill them?” he asked.

Reacting to the incident, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa, said investigations were ongoing and that a postmortem examination had been ordered.

“We sympathise with the family and understand the grief they are going through. However, we want the right procedures to be followed. The matter is being investigated by the police, and we are also conducting our own investigation as a state,” Mustafa said.

He noted that the vaccine administered had been given to many children before and after the twins without any reported adverse outcomes.

“The bodies have been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital morgue. Once the postmortem findings are available, we will communicate appropriately,” he added.

However, Alozie expressed concern that the investigation might be compromised to protect the government-owned health facility.

“This is government to government. Please, if you are a lawyer or a human rights advocate, help me. I don’t have the money to fight this alone. I need justice for my children,” he pleaded.
