The Ogun State chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what it described as sustained efforts to create an enabling environment for teachers and strengthen the state’s education sector.
The union specifically lauded the governor’s commitment to educational development, citing the recent appointment of two Principal-Generals as a deliberate move to enhance leadership and administrative efficiency in public secondary schools across the state.
In an appreciation letter jointly signed by the ASUSS State Chairman, Comrade Oluwaseun Felix Agbesanwa, and the State Secretary, Comrade Oluseyi Bankole, and made available to the media, the union said the Abiodun administration is on course to leave the education sector in a better state than it met it.
ASUSS congratulated Mr. Mathew Osilesi on his appointment as Principal-General of the Remo Division and Mr. Yakubu Lamidi as Principal-General of the Ijebu Division, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication, professionalism, and effective leadership.
According to the union, the appointments are aimed at strengthening administrative leadership within schools and improving the overall quality of secondary education in Ogun State.
“On behalf of over 10,000 secondary school teachers in Ogun State, we assure Your Excellency of our total loyalty, support, and unwavering backing at all times. Your teacher-friendly posture has restored hope and dignity to the teaching profession in Ogun State,” the letter read.
The union also commended the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, and the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, for ensuring that teachers’ concerns receive prompt attention under the current administration.
ASUSS further praised the Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu, noting that three education officers were recently elevated under his leadership.
The union assured the TESCOM chairman of its continued cooperation in advancing secondary school education in the state.
ASUSS also congratulated all newly sworn-in appointees and urged them to discharge their duties with humility, compassion, and fairness.
“Once again, we commend the governor for his responsive leadership and commitment to teachers’ welfare. Ogun teachers remain resolutely behind this administration,” the union added.
