The mother of 12-year-old Anu, who is at the centre of an ongoing paternity dispute involving Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused the Adeleke family of intimidation, manipulation and abuse of power.
In a strongly worded statement released late Wednesday, she also denied claims that additional DNA tests were conducted in 2020, contrary to recent assertions by the singer’s father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke.
Reacting to renewed media attention on the matter, Anu’s mother alleged that her sister, Titilayo Labinjoh, had been in communication with Dr. Adeleke since the COVID-19 pandemic — a development she described as shocking.
“To my shock, my own sister, Titi Labinjoh, reportedly has been talking to Dr. Deji Adeleke since the pandemic. About what?” she asked.
She further claimed that Titilayo recently contacted their mother from Abuja, expressing fear over the resurgence of the controversy and complaints from colleagues at her workplace.
“Our mom told her to ignore it. What about Anu who has to endure everything?” she queried, adding that she was distressed by allegations suggesting her sister may have received money from the Adeleke family.
Citing Matthew 10:36, she described the situation as a betrayal within her own household and denied claims that she collaborated with controversial blogger Kemi Olunloyo to push the narrative surrounding her daughter.
Clarifying her relationship with Olunloyo, she said the blogger helped create a social media page for Anu in 2019, using photos sourced online and others provided by her.
“Dr. Kemi opened this page and handed it over to us in 2019. I’m not a social media user and didn’t post for four years,” she said, explaining that she resumed posting in 2023 during Anu’s 10th birthday photoshoot.
She noted that she no longer resides in Ibadan, that Anu currently lives with her grandmother and that she earns a living as a trader who sources goods from neighbouring countries.
“There was no time Titi told Dr. Kemi to stop posting about Anu. They do not have each other’s contact and do not talk,” she stated.
According to her, her mother, Mrs. Ropo Labinjoh, independently posts some of Anu’s videos online, adding that the family has had no direct contact with Olunloyo despite the blogger’s continued public commentary on the issue.
She also recalled that Olunloyo publicly supported the family in 2018, including organising a press conference during an earlier appeal.
In a direct message to Dr. Adeleke, she said the matter should be addressed by Davido himself.
“Sir, as the patriarch of the family, you should not be talking on David’s behalf. I’m not Sophia negotiating child support. Let David address me,” she said.
She further accused the Adeleke family of abusing their wealth and influence, alleging that a relative was used to monitor her family.
“Your power and money are being abused here,” she alleged, adding: “David is obviously a boy and not a man.”
Issuing a warning, she said: “If anything happens to me, my daughter, or my mom, the police should hold you responsible.”
Addressing conflicting accounts on DNA testing, she categorically denied Dr. Adeleke’s claim that additional tests were conducted years after the initial exercise.
“Anu and I never met with you in 2020 for four additional DNA tests,” she stated.
She also dismissed suggestions linking Anu to Davido’s cousin, B-Red, saying she has not had any contact with him since 2013.
“I have not seen B-Red since February 2013 when they dined at my place of work, GQ Club in Ibadan. Anu has never met B-Red,” she said.
According to her, speculation involving B-Red stemmed from questions raised by Olunloyo during a detailed interview, excerpts of which are now circulating online.
“She suspected I may have also slept with him. That interview is now floating around. Post the tests, sir,” she concluded.
The latest development comes less than 24 hours after Dr. Adedeji Adeleke publicly addressed the controversy, outlining how the Adeleke family allegedly coordinated multiple DNA tests to determine whether Anuoluwapo is biologically related to the singer.
In that interview, Dr. Adeleke said the family acted after receiving documents, photographs and correspondence he claimed linked Davido to Anu’s mother, prompting what he described as extensive DNA testing to resolve the matter.
