The much-anticipated Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo Football Competition has reached its semi-final stage following the conclusion of the group phase, with organisers confirming the four teams that have progressed to the last four of the tournament.
Oke Agbo, Oke Sopen, Ojowo and Atikori emerged as the top performers after an action-packed group phase that thrilled football fans across Ijebu Igbo and its environs.
The quartet will now battle for a place in the final in what promises to be fiercely contested semi-final encounters.
According to the fixtures released by the organisers, Oke Sopen will square off against Ojowo in the first semi-final by 2:00 p.m., while Oke Agbo will take on Atikori in the second clash scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Both matches will be played on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Abusi Edumare Academy Stadium.
The competition has continued to gather momentum, drawing commendation from football lovers and stakeholders for its smooth organisation and the absence of rancour throughout the group phase. Observers have praised the organisers for maintaining discipline and sportsmanship among participating teams.
On the individual front, Atikori FC’s Michael Adekola currently leads the goal scorers’ chart with three goals to his name. He is followed by Olaiya Oluafemi of Japara FC, who netted twice before his side bowed out of the competition after finishing fifth on the group table.
The Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo Football Competition is facilitated by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ijebu North Local Branch, under the leadership of Ogbeni Abolaji Adeniyi Sobowale. The tournament is fully sponsored by Alhaji Abiodun Olawale Lawal (Abinugbola), whose support has been widely acknowledged as instrumental to the success of the competition.
As the semi-finals beckon, expectations are high that the remaining teams will deliver thrilling performances befitting the growing prestige of the tournament.
