President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Monday for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday titled “President Tinubu to Undertake State Visit to Türkiye.”
According to the statement, the visit is designed to deepen the existing cordial ties between Nigeria and Türkiye while exploring additional areas of cooperation in security, education, social development, innovation and aviation.
The visit also serves as a reciprocal gesture following an earlier state visit to Nigeria by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from October 19 to 20, 2021.
During President Tinubu’s stay in Türkiye, both countries are expected to hold strategic political and diplomatic engagements focused on shared interests in finance, communications, trade and investment.
“The agenda will include meetings between high-ranking officials of both nations, as well as the signing of memoranda of understanding covering scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military collaboration, and protocol, among others,” the statement said.
The state visit will also feature a Nigeria–Türkiye business forum, bringing together investors from both countries to explore mutually beneficial opportunities.
Members of the President’s entourage participating in the bilateral discussions include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd); and the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Jimi Benson.
Others are the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed.
President Tinubu is expected to return to the country at the conclusion of the visit.
