The Ogun State House of Assembly has reaffirmed the legitimacy of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), the Articulated Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), and the Road Transport Motorcycle Operators (ROMO) as the only authorised motorcycle revenue agents in the state.

The position was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Committees for the Clerk/Head of Legislative Services, Elegbede L.O., and addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

According to the statement, the three associations remain the only bodies duly appointed by the Ogun State Government and recognised by the House of Assembly to collaborate in revenue generation arising from commercial motorcycle operations across the state.

The Assembly stressed that any group or individual parading themselves as motorcycle revenue agents outside ACOMORAN, AMORAN, and ROMO should be regarded as impostors and are not recognised by the legislature.

“I have the directive of the Speaker to draw your attention to the above subject and to reaffirm the legitimacy of ACOMORAN, AMORAN and ROMO as the only three motorcycle revenue agents authorised by the Ogun State Government and recognised by this Honourable House to operate and collaborate in revenue generation from commercial motorcycle operations in Ogun State,” the statement read in part.

The House further requested the Commissioner of Police to accord the three associations full recognition as the official motorcycle revenue agents in the state. It also referenced an earlier correspondence on the matter, dated January 31, 2025, which was attached to the letter for record purposes.

The Assembly reiterated that any unauthorised persons or groups collecting motorcycle-related revenues in the state are operating illegally and should be treated accordingly.
