Ogun State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mrs Kikelomo Longe, has stated that the state government has addressed multiple taxations in the state.
Kikelomo noted that such was necessary to encourage investment and innovation especially when the government is hell bent on increasing its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the development of the state.
She made this exclusively known in an interview held on Thursday.
The commissioner recalled that multiple taxations was an issue prior to the emergence of the current administration but resolved immediately on assumption of office.
While explaining how it was addressed, Mrs Longe said that Governor Dapo Abiodun established inter-ministerial committee that looked at the situation to nip it in the bud and it was done successfully.
“On the issue of multiple taxation, we have addressed it. I have always said that we want to be a business friendly state. So, we do away with those issues that affect businesses in order to continue to make us attractive.
“Before we came into government, there were issues with multiple taxation. His excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun established inter- ministerial committee that looked at multiple taxation and it was successfully address.” She stated.
While speaking on strategies put in place to encourage investment in the state.
The commissioner noted that the current administration came up with the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Law that ensure the rights of the partners are catered for.
“One of the first thing that was done in all set of our administration is to come up with a PPP law.
“We came up with a PPP law that was very drafted and ensured that rights of the partners are catered for and also ensure that terms and conditions are kept and the process is defined into any PPP transaction,” she said.
