President Bola Tinubu has approved the formation of Nigeria’s delegation to the U.S.-Nigeria Joint Working Group, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation to address the country’s escalating security challenges.

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, will head the Nigerian delegation, backed by a multi-agency team comprising senior officials from key security, defense, and policy institutions.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

This initiative builds on recent high-level discussions in Washington, D.C., spearheaded by the NSA.

The delegation includes:

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar

Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Bernard Doro

Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede

Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Ms. Idayat Hassan from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and Mr. Paul Alabi from the Embassy of Nigeria in the U.S. will serve as the secretariat.

President Tinubu directed the team to collaborate closely with U.S. counterparts to ensure effective implementation of all agreed cooperation frameworks.
