As we usher in 2026, Governor Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun – MFR has expressed deep appreciation to the people of Ogun State for their steadfast support, patience, and resilience.

He noted that the new year presents another opportunity to strengthen collaboration between government and citizens as the administration remains focused on building a prosperous, inclusive, and economically diversified Ogun State through strategic infrastructure development and sustained investment in human capital, guided by the Building Our Future Together vision and the ISEYA Development Agenda.

In line with the administration’s belief in compassion, justice, and rehabilitation, the governor highlighted the exercise of the prerogative of mercy, through which 71 inmates were granted clemency via early releases, compassionate discharges, and commutation of sentences. According to him, the gesture reinforces the government’s commitment to second chances and the successful reintegration of reformed individuals into society.

Governor Abiodun also underscored the state’s economic progress, disclosing that Ogun State’s Gross Domestic Product is now estimated at ₦17 trillion, while Internally Generated Revenue has grown to approximately ₦250 billion.

He added that these gains are supported by landmark infrastructure projects such as the Gateway International Airport, the construction and rehabilitation of over 1,500 kilometres of roads, and ongoing work on inland dry ports to enhance trade and economic competitiveness.

Across critical sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture, social investment, women empowerment, job creation, and security, the governor affirmed that the administration has remained people-focused. He cited expanded health insurance coverage, improved medical facilities, skills empowerment programmes, farmer support initiatives, business grants, and strengthened security architecture as key areas of sustained intervention.

Looking ahead, Governor Dapọ Abiodun assured residents of Ogun State of continued inclusive governance, active citizen participation, and unwavering commitment to policies and programmes that promote shared prosperity, peace, and sustainable development across the state.
