…Police Recover Camouflage Uniform, Mobile Phones
The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against crime with the arrest of two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate allegedly linked to a kidnap and murder case in the Okada area of Edo State.
The suspects were apprehended in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode following intelligence-driven investigations by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
Confirming the development in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the arrests followed the initial apprehension of the suspects by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service on June 4, 2026, and subsequent investigations into their activities.
According to him, the suspects were identified as 25-year-old Gafaru Adamu and 20-year-old Muhammed Sanni.
“Following extensive profiling and investigation, the suspects were identified as persons wanted in connection with an ongoing kidnapping and murder case reported in the Okada area of Edo State,” Babaseyi said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo are members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate allegedly involved in the crime under investigation.
During the operation, police recovered a pair of police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones from the suspects. The recovered items have been documented and secured as exhibits.
Babaseyi noted that the offences being investigated were committed outside Ogun State and disclosed that, in line with established inter-state policing procedures, the suspects and recovered exhibits would be handed over to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and intelligence-led approach, which led to the successful arrest of the suspects and recovery of exhibits.
He reiterated the Command’s determination to ensure that Ogun State does not serve as a refuge or transit route for criminal elements.
Ojajuni further assured residents of the Command’s commitment to sustaining proactive policing strategies and strengthening collaboration with other security agencies and state commands to enhance public safety.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to aid ongoing efforts to combat crime and criminality.
